These individuals are instrumental in shaping the future of the insurance industry.
The rising talents recognized in the 2023 edition of Insurance Business Canada’s Rising Stars have showcased their unwavering commitment to driving change and fostering innovation within the field.
These professionals have conclusively demonstrated that age is not a hindrance to achieving success in the insurance arena, as they have made significant contributions across diverse domains within the industry.
Dionne Bowers, owner of D. B. Solutions and a member of the judging panel, emphasized that this year’s Rising Stars have underscored the fact that true excellence in the insurance profession extends beyond technical expertise.
According to Bowers, “Young professionals need to be dedicated to effecting change within the community, whether it’s related to insurance or not. I believe that every Rising Star must possess critical thinking, leadership abilities, problem-solving skills, and strong interpersonal skills to achieve success.”
The common thread that binds the Top 50 Rising Stars for 2023 is their unwavering dedication to their craft.
In a recently published report highlighting this year’s winners, hard work emerged as the primary trait that has propelled these young professionals in their careers, closely followed by their emotional intelligence.
In addition to these attributes, specialized management training and legal knowledge have also played pivotal roles in their ascent to prominence.
Interestingly, having a relevant degree or a long tenure at the same employer ranked lower among the factors contributing to their success, underscoring the importance of adaptability and ongoing learning within the industry.
Joseph Carnevale, vice president of sales at Gallagher and another member of the judging panel, succinctly captured the attitude that has enabled these Rising Stars to thrive in their careers.
“Every opportunity is a chance to step up and exhibit leadership, regardless of one’s position or title,” he remarked.
Among the 50 young professionals acknowledged by Insurance Business Canada this year, Alexander Rei, a 30-year-old business development manager at Echelon Insurance, stands out.
Rei describes his current role as a dream job, and his commitment to enhancing his company’s growth and fostering engagement within the industry is readily apparent. His peers and clients commend him for his boundless enthusiasm and passion for his work.
“I have never encountered anyone more devoted to providing the best possible service to their brokers and clients,” one colleague said.
“Alex consistently goes the extra mile for his brokers and puts in tireless hours to nurture those relationships,” another added. “I admire his fervor for the industry.”
