The Hartford; Committed to Our Communities

We’re doing all we can to show our support through the COVID-19 outbreak. Our commitment to stand beside our communities is stronger than ever, and we’re donating to organizations that have been critical in addressing the humanitarian issues caused by this crisis.

First, we’ve taken important steps to protect the health and well-being of our employees and the communities where we work and live while serving our customers, agents and broker partners. We’ve already asked every employee who can work remotely to do so until further notice. We’ve also switched to virtual meetings and canceled or postponed company-sponsored events through April. Having fewer people in our buildings will help us meet social distance recommendations and limit the potential for our employees to get sick. We have the capability to operate with a remote workforce, and we do not anticipate any disruption in our ability to serve customers. We’re working closely with our distribution partners and customers to answer general questions about insurance coverage and service, recognizing that coverage is determined on a case-by-case basis and dependent on facts, circumstances, applicable law and policy language. Since this is a quickly evolving situation, we will adjust our operating policies and practices as need be. Most importantly: Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by the pandemic. Our hearts go out to those who are sick or recovering – and to those who are on the front lines caring for others. And, we’re thinking about the people and businesses we insure. While we can’t predict what the next few months will hold, we are committed to doing everything we can to support all of our stakeholders through this challenging time. To stay up to date, please see our helpful resources for business insurance, employee benefits and individuals.
